On September 8, 1921, Forest Park was created on 71 acres of land, known
as Staubitzers Woods (or Grove). The City School Board Purchased
the southwest section of 40 acres and the City of Brazil purchased the
remainder, thus creating a recreational center. Today, Forest Park is the recreational center of our city. Over it's 85 year history, the Brazil City Parks and Recreation Board has offered a variety of amenities including, shelter reservations, softball and baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, the J. Emery Jenkins Nature Trail, a quarter-mile walking/biking track, a bandshell built in 1937 and home to the famous Brazil Concert Band, one of the largest playgrounds in the Wabash Valley, a 300,000 gallon swimming pool with slide and diving board, pavilion with stage large enough to hold a thousand people, |
